Reviewed: Noctua IndustrialPPC

If you ever wondered what might happen if Noctua focussed on performance and durability and decided to allow acoustics to take a back seat, then wonder no longer – the IndustrialPPC range is here. Noctua has expanded their range and it’s a lot more than cranking up the motor and making the fans in black.

We’ve covered off the Premium range of coolers from Noctua with the ideal balance of performance, quality and acoustics – last month we reviewed the 92mm, 80mm and 40mm offerings in this class. The Redux range was also reviewed earlier this month where we saw some older favourites (and dare we say it ‘Cult heroes’?) back in grey but more affordable due to Noctua keeping the accessories to … well.. the essential 4 mounting screws. Now we get to take a look at the true work horse from Noctua but it really is something new, despite the similar shapes.

noctua nf ippc 5

After I received the iPPC review samples I asked Noctua about the fan being black and confirmed that Noctua didn’t want these getting confused with the premium range because unlike the NF-F12 and NF-A14, the iPPC series are not meant to be as quiet by Noctua standards. Make no mistake about it these are designed for heavy duty applications and whilst we see the same technology that made the NF-F12 and NF-A14 such an impressive step forward from the previous generation, it doesn’t stop there. The motor is different in terms of the design, performance and the housing has been designed to thwart dust and dripping water. We should also mention that the construction is fibreglass reinforced polyamide material for both the frame and the blades. This means that it can withstand temperatures as high as 140 degrees Celsius and they will be more robust at higher speeds.

We will have a look at the motor in more detail when we go through specifications but it’s a significant part of the new identity of the iPPC range.

The packaging is more aligned with the Redux range in that it’s simple with the specifications listed and a QR code to find out more. The accessories are limited to 4 fan screws but Noctua have fitted their anti-vibration corners to these fans as per their ‘Premium Range’ cousins.
